These are still floating at the 50,000 foot level for me. What aspect of Jazz? What story will you tell? ON the lyric based locations. I'm sure that's easily researched, but how do you create a viable narrative about them? Or is it a more didactic frontal look --a typology of song lyric locations--like the Bechers' water towers (look them up if you don't know the work - Bernd + Hilla Becher)?
For the strip club work (which is near impossible to do) there are two local resources to speak with--one is Alec Soth, who did a small group of these pictures in the late 90s (he's very sweet and giving, if he has time-try emailing him if you decide to pursue this--mention you are my student), and the other is Dona B. Schwartz, who did some fine art work related to striping in the early part of this decade. Most importantly, you should look at Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, who did a series a few years ago of studio portraits of porn stars with and without their street clothes.
